The Overnight Mask Guide

overnight masks

Ok girls, let’s chat overnight masks and facials.  A few years ago, these became a hot item thanks to this pink potion.  It was a cult product that was impossible to get.  Now, the shelves of Sephora are stocked with options for everyone.  As it is with any beauty trend, I decided to try them all.  And of course, report back to my ladies here with my thoughts.

How to Use An Overnight Mask

Let’s start with the OG of the overnight facials.  Truth be told, the first time I tried this, I was left super disappointed.  I was just as let down the next two or three times as well.  It went into my cabinet and sat until I finally figured out the correct way to use an overnight facial.  Because there is a correct way and I had no clue what it was.  To correctly use an overnight mask or facial product, you must first apply your nightly skin regime.  Such a duh moment for me, but it made a world of difference.  Finally, the product made sense and the results were hopeful!  Also, important to note: make sure you’re using a product made specifically for overnight use.

The one that started it all.  You may remember this cult favorite from a few years ago, when sleeping masks first popped on the scene.  Not only does this pink beauty come in fabulous packaging, it also packs a serious punch of skin care.  This mask packs a moisturizing punch in a super light weight formula thanks to hyaluronic acid.  It also is full of AHA’s which will gently exfoliate skin and help the appearance of pores.   Plus, it is certified clean at Sephora – always a win!  Honestly, I’m a sucker for great packaging and this delivers.  I love that I get exfoliation and moisture in one product with minimal effort, plus it gives a little glow to your skin when you wake up.

I love this mask for it’s wallet-friendly price point and the thirst-quenching dose of moisture it provides.  It’s a light gel formula, so it won’t clog pores or irritate acne-prone skin.  Yet, it moisturizes and will leave you waking up with baby soft skin.  This works for anyone and is a great starter for overnight masking!

Ladies, this is the best overnight mask for dry skin!  This rich formula will help severely dry skin get the moisture it needs. It work best paired with the brand’s facial oil, but any oil and moisturizer combination applied before it will work.  There is no wax in the formula, so it won’t clog pores and it’s made from naturally-derived ingredients.  I’ve applied this and seen dramatic increase in my skin’s moisture in one use.  I promise you, if your skin is thirsty and dry, this works!

Now, for the most luxurious of them all.  I will preface this by saying that I would not spend this amount of money on a sleeping mask.  My mom bought this for me as a holiday gift, and it is the most divine treat.  This cream is rich, yet light at the same time.  After a night of sleeping in it, I wake up feeling like my skin had a lovely spa day.   There is a reason this costs a pretty penny and is impossible to get your hands on – it is simply beyond.  This mask manages to help with fine lines and skin texture, while adding a solid dose of moisture.  If you happen to try this one, let me know if you also think it is the most fabulous face treat ever!

To sum it up, I am a big fan of overnight masks and facial products.  They are such a lazy girl hack for amazing skin and are a great addition to any skincare routine.  There is a mask for almost any skin need and they all make an amazing supplement to a regular skin care regime.

Thank you so much for this! My skin is starting to show it’s age, but I’ve always been afraid to apply something that I don’t immediately wash off before bed <3
