Ok all of my 90’s gals, let’s talk about the crop top trend that is back right now in a big way. As a girl in the 1990’s, it was totally normal to tie your shirt to make it cropped. I have memories of using my brightest scrunchies to make my tee shirts into the most styling crop tops. My goal? To look as cool as Kelly Kapowski and I was fully convinced that I did. I look back very fondly on the 90’s, but that’s a trend I don’t miss. But I am majorly glad that scrunchies are back!
Even if you’re not going for a full blown cropped look, the length of tops is slowly inching up. Designers and retailers are not doing any of us with long torsos a favor. But, after much trial and error, I think I have it figured out. And, trust me, there was more trial and error than I care to share.
Ok, so crop tops are in. And not everyone wants to wear them. Yes, they are definitely amazing styled the right way and actually work for every body type. Read that as you do not need to be stick thin to wear one! But for me, it’s not comfortable and it’s not functional for my daily life. I’m still post-partum (eh, sort of.) Plus, I’m lifting a baby up and down all day. I’m going to assume that I’m not alone with this either.
But so many cute tops are on that verge of being cropped and normal length: they are semi-cropped. Make high waist jeans, pants, and skirts your new best friends, and all of the semi-cropped tops work for any situation. You’ve got coverage and comfort, and possibly, a cute front tuck! Trust me girls, if I can wear it, you can definitely rock it!
