You guys are going to think I’m a totally crazy mom when I start this post off with sentimentality. Even though he has been out of a crib for years, it still makes want to tear up knowing that Greyson has a big boy room. He is always a baby in my mind (I know, I know) so seeing it from a different perspective still blows my mind a lot. Maybe that’s why his room was the first one together in our house and I’m just writing about it now.
Greyson is six now and a kindergartener, all of which seems so crazy. When we moved to Georgia and into our new home it was his first time understanding that a space was truly his and having an opinion on it. He insisted on gray walls, because it is his signature color for an obvious reason. Other than that, he hasn’t been too particular in what he wants in it.
His room isn’t exactly how it could be to be as fun and functional and Greyson. However, he is a really sentimental person and has a hard time letting go of pieces he has had his entire life, so we have held on to a lot of things that may not make the most sense. His bed is a prime example of this. It was his crib and we converted it, but his room is better fit to a trundle or sideways style bed. And while Greyson would love this, he gets so sad at the thought of not having this bed that we just can’t do it yet. [Don’t look too closely because you can see the teething gnaw marks all over the frame.]
His room is a mix of baby pieces (bed and dresser) that have grown with him, and budget-friendly finds. Greyson likes to be rough on furniture, so we can’t invest a lot into them until he stops coloring on every. single. surface. I’m hoping we can start gradually switching things out so it’s not too much at once for my sweet boy, and so we can hopefully learn to take care of our things. [insert ALL of the crying laughing emojis 😉]
