Hi friends! Sorry for the absence last week, Spring Break was kicking my butt! However, amusing the kids indoors lead to my house being turned fully upside down. Which, in turn, led to me getting motivated to do some serious Spring cleaning and getting spaces together. I’m going to start small, as in the smallest part of our house, but one of the most well used: the entryway.
Let me hit you with the before pictures, first. They came out so terribly, which means this space is really looking for some love! 😂
It’s a very small, tight space unfortunately. However, that just means we need to maximize it for what it is. It’s had a rotation of random furniture there, as we try best to utilize it for storage and functionality. When you enter our front door, the space is to the left and is about 2×2 feet. There is a door to the office and playroom to the left, stairs to the second floor straight ahead and our dining room to the right. We are lucky enough to have a hallway closet a few feet ahead, which helps with storage to some degree.
This is the main entry to our house. It’s where guests come and go, packages are delivered, and we enter and leave many times throughout the day. We also use it for mail storage, shoes storage and for housing other miscellaneous gear like hats and dog whatnots. This is a high traffic spot and storage and accessibility are priority.
When it comes to what I want to do with the space, I’m a little all over the place. I’m stuck between form and functionality. I love the idea of a simple console table, but I know storage will be limited. Seating is a must for taking shoes on and off and setting bags down. Right now, I’m learning towards the acrylic console table with two of the benches under it and then filling in with some accessories.
Help me out – what are your thoughts?
Thanks so much for reading and hope your week is going great! -XO
