Happy Monday! I’m so ready for a week of warmer temps, school being open, and hopefully kicking these Winter blues for a little bit.
Mock necks are one of those things that bring me back to my childhood and the 1990’s in a major way. I rocked many a Gap mock neck in my prime. In middle school, I kept them in constant rotation, mixed in withe occasional one from Aeropostale or Abercrombie. And then they sort of fell away, until recently. I was actually pretty against the mock neck for several reasons. They can get makeup on them easily, they can be unflattering on the wrong silhouette and they can seem so 90’s. But, I bought this mock neck and my love affair began once more.
Let’s talk about the Winter blues. I’m a full believer that Seasonal Affective Disorder is real and its effects are strong. Because I grew up in the Northeast, outside of Philadelphia and spent four frigid years of college at Syracuse, I have lived it. Needless to say, I was ready for some change after years of harsh Winters. I moved to San Diego after college and to Los Angeles when Avery was born. I really miss SoCal Winters.
When it is warm and sunny, even when the sun sets earlier, you just feel different. And happier. Because of this, I try to avoid wearing black all day. I incorporate more blues and browns into my daily wardrobe to keep it lighter. You gotta do what you gotta do to stay cheery this time of year!
Sweater [Loft] // Jeans [J.Crew] // Shoes [Yosi Samra] [larger size] // Bag [Zac Posen] // Earrings [Kendra Scott, old] [similar]
The sweater runs true to size and comes in a couple of other colors. My jeans are selling out quickly – they run true to size and the length is perfect on me (I’m 5’7.) This bag is available in the larger size here. These shoes run a little narrow in the front. My earrings are a few years old, but these are similar and so cute!
How are you avoiding this Winter blues? Stay warm (and happy!) -XO
