Do you gals like home decor posts? I am addicted, but I love your feedback too on what you want to see here. Sourcing products and putting together spaces gives me all kinds of happiness.
My style is less about my taste these days and more about more about what works for our family as a whole in our new home. I try to include more masculine pieces and as many durable items as I can because I want it to feel like it works for everyone. Plus, kids and pets do a number on pretty much every thing in our house.
I want to splurge on home decor, but I also have to really pick and choose where I do. Some things just aren’t worth spending a ton on because I know they won’t last in our house. Rugs and seating furniture tend to get ruined quickly and easily for us thanks to our pets and kids. Pillows and large pieces of furniture end up covered in marker and scratches; can anyone explain to me how this happens? In the future, we can spend more on these, but for now, it makes sense for us not to. I like to keep my splurges on accessories or durable, small pieces of furniture: side tables, lamps and small pieces I know we will keep.
Updates Around Our House
We own more couches than necessary, but our family room needs a very specific size. This is our biggest splurge yet, and there are already slime stains on it. 🙄
We have a breakfast nook in our kitchen where we spend more time than anywhere else in the house. I’m still trying to figure out the pillow, table and chair situation here to fit the space right.
We had all of the old carpeting ripped up and replaced with a lighter, more durable one. There is a giant piece left over that we are going to edge ourselves and use as our family room rug. Fingers crossed it turns out ok!
The space next to our front door is tricky to me for some reason. I just cannot figure out what to do here. It’s a logical place for storage, but I’m drawing blanks on how to do that. For now, it hosts pretty bags and fresh flowers.
The dining room hutch is finally in its final (for now) spot and styled. This has been such a challenge for no reason at all, but I am so happy to have it done!
Dining Room Design Post
Last, but definitely not least are these blue and white decorative balls. I have wanted a set for so long and was able to find one, just ONE sole ball in New Jersey. I had all but given up until a recent Home Goods trip where I found a set floating around the store. It was opened and taped back up, but everything was in perfect condition. Does anyone else get that HomeGoods high when they find a score like that?
Thanks for reading babes! -XO
