The Weekend Round Up

Happy Friday babes!  We are heading out for a day and night with friends to celebrate one of Greyson’s bestie’s birthday and we are all so excited!  It’s always so fun to be able to travel with friends, especially when kids are involved!

This week was so unbelievably gorgeous; I just want to bottle this weather and make it last forever.  It reminds me of perfect California weather, where it is warm, but not hot and there is zero humidity in the air.  Basically, it the is the best weather for hair.  Ever.

I have been deep cleaning the house, getting a ton of work done and organizing every nook and cranny of our house that I possibly can.  I also want this motivation to last forever!  My goal is to get everything together before the Winter and cold weather sets in and I have zero motivation or energy left to do anything but bundle up and eat hearty soup.  I’m really rambling here, but I guess that’s what happens by the end of the week…

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

+  A collection of inspiring inspiration boards.  I haven’t made one of these in ages and now I have the itch!

+  The most swoon-worthy formal gown.  I want to buy this and just have it on hand!

+  This really is the most perfect little Fall look.

+  Are these not the most adorable cheeky phone cases? They are totally pushing boundaries, and I am kind of ok with that lately.

+ The most perfect poncho.  This is what I want to wear while I’m eating that soup I mentioned early.

+  Have you guys shopped Goodnight Macaroon yet?  I am loving their pieces!  Everything is classic and feminine, two of my favorite things.

+  I really dig Annie’s day in a life video.  Totally fun to watch if you’re nosy like me and love to know what goes on in other peoples’ lives.

+ I’m all sorts of heart eyes for this cozy guest bedroom. LOVE.

+ How cute are these personalized (and under $25!) dainty gold layering necklaces?  Layering dainty necklaces is totally my jam lately.

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous weekend! -XO

Beauty | Product Spotlight: Rodan and Fields Reverse

It’s been a minute so I did a product focus and I really want to get back into spotlighting products I am loving.  I would say that 75 percent of the beauty and cosmetics products I purchase are based on blogger reviews, so you can see that I take these pretty seriously.  Because of that, I want to share anything I use and love with you guys so that you have an opinion to work with.

Today, I want to talk about something a little different for my usual skin routine, the Rodan and Fields Skin Lightening Accelerator Pack.

Before we talk about why and what I love about this set, I want to give you the background on why I have been using it.  I was lucky enough with both of my pregnancies not to have melasma.  However, in the last couple of years, age and my teenage obsession with tanning beds has started to strike my skin hard and I have noticed a lot of discoloration and spotting starting to creep up.  Hence, why I wanted to try something that helped with discoloration and giving an even skin tone.

These products are NO JOKE.  You must follow their instructions and ease your skin into them, starting with a couple of days the first week and increasing usage each week. You also need to make sure you have sunscreen on your skin every single day. You can buy the full set, or use this pack with a toner and treatment.  I wash my face then swipe the toner all over.  Once it is fully dry I apply the treatment and let it dry for at least thirty minutes.  I will apply moisturizer on top of this.  I rotate between day and night with this and don’t use it every single day because I have very dry skin.

Let’s talk results: I see them and they happened quickly.  I noticed a significant difference in my skin within three weeks of using this set every other day.  My brown spots are basically gone and my skin tone is much more even.  I was quite honestly very shocked at how quickly this worked and what great results it gave.  I have used Retin A in the past and other prescribed products, but would definitely call this equal or better to those.

I shop Rodan and Fields with my friend Lauren.  She is local to New Jersey and really honest and helpful.  You can shop online with her here.

Thank you reading and have a fabulous day!  -XO

Style | Maroon Sweater

Sweater: Express / Jeans: Blank NYC / Shoes: Halogen (sold out), similar, and here, here / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff / Watch: Michele / Bracelets: Pink Jewels, Hot Tots

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Does anyone else love maroon as much as I do?  It’s quickly become one of those colors that I end up grabbing for my closet frequently without even realizing it.  I’m going to throw it in with my whites and soft pinks and call it super feminine and girly.

I picked up this sweater at Express last week and have worn it four times already that I can remember.  It’s so comfortable and easy to toss on, making it one of those pieces that will get the most wear in my closet this year.  I snagged it with a discount code, which I have noticed they have one of pretty much every Friday through Sunday.  I’m thinking of grabbing it in the gray too because I love it and wear it that much, that another color is going to become necessary so the other moms at pick up don’t think I am totally gross and own other clothes.

Between expanding my workout wear and picking up sweaters like this, I am going to make getting dressed a breeze this Fall/Winter, because I am always short on time and effort.  Who else is with me on that?

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day! -XO

Shopping | Currently Obsessed

Before we jump into today’s post, will you all be so kind as to let me know if you like these shopping posts or not in the comments.  They are my absolute favorites to create because I am a complete shopaholic, but I want to know if anyone out there likes them too!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

This bag has been on my wish list since this Summer and I really need to just snag it!  It looks super high end but doesn’t have the thousands of dollars price tag most bags with its style do.   This is another budget-friendly bag that is a super classic style and color. How cute are these peep toe mules? I love the stacked heel and the navy is an unexpected but versatile color choice.  I am also loving these blushish/grayish heels!

I have been eyeing this blouse and just noticed it is 40% off and there are always additional discounts.  This would be so office chic!  It would be gorgeous topped with the perfect pale pink coat.  It takes the basic pea coat up a level!  The top probably wouldn’t look so great with this vest, but how fun is it? I think a bright pink pop will kick up my gym clothes a few notches and maybe make me want to run outside?

Finally, how cute would everything be paired with this tortoise necklace?  Tortoise is one of my favorite neutrals in jewelry, so I fully support that purchase of any chunky jewelry in it.  I promise you it will match everything!  I already have a giant tortoise necklace or I would snag this one, so someone please get it and wear it so I can live vicariously through you!

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -XO

Style | How to Change an Entire Look

Skirt: Express / Shoes: Michael Kors (old), similar here and here / Top: Lilly Pulitzer / Bag: Lauren Merkin (old) / Bottom shoes: Amazon / Earrings: Kendra Scott / Ring: BaubleBar / Hosiery: c/o Berkshire

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Let’s talk about legs today; specifically hosiery.  Some of you may know that I worked at Victoria’s Secret all four years of college and during that time I developed a major love affair with hosiery.  This is the first part of the 2000’s when patterned tights were coming in.  When I worked at Neiman Marcus, we were required to wear something on our legs during colder months so my obsession with stockings and tights deepened.  It was pretty amazing what a colored opaque tight or a patterned stocking could do to a simple black skirt.

I picked up this black skirt recently, figuring it would be a versatile piece to have in my closet, and satiating my need for a poufy, faux-ball gown skirt.  Side note:  this is a great piece to have on hand for lots of dressy events, but more on that to come in another post!) However, it’s a skirt that makes a statement and is easy to spot in repeat wears (don’t nobody want that!)  Fun hosiery is the most cost efficient way to ensure that doesn’t happen!

Berkshire Hosiery was kind enough to send me a few pairs to try and I am in LOVE!  I’m wearing the Dot style from their Trend line and I absolutely love it.  It stays in place so you aren’t always yanking up (you know what I’m talking about ladies!) and gives any look a little kick.  You can get your own pair for 15% off at Berkshire with code: blogger15.

Plan on seeing my wear this skirt to every fancy event with another pair of these awesome tights!  As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Have a fabulous day! -XO

The Weekend Round Up

Happy Friday lovelies!  This was quite a week between Avery’s 8th birthday, two days off of school and my need to organize every nook and cranny of our house.  I have been plowing through projects all week that I can share if anyone is interested!  We are almost done with Avery’s big, big girl room (coming soon!) and are getting a major dent into transforming our yard.  Why does not one tell you what kind of crazy projects are always going on when you buy a house?!

I didn’t do a post on it because everyone else seems to have, but don’t forget the Shopbop sale ends tonight!  This is a doozy of a sale where you can save 25% on great basics, like designer jeans, shoes and bags.  I snagged some new skinnies and an oversized sweater that I am super excited about!

I picked up the new FitBit Flex 2 this week and I am loving it!  Its much thinner and more bracelet-like than its predecessor and I am reallllly hoping Tory Burch comes out with fun bands for it!  If you are shopping for a new step counter, I highly recommend this one!  Let’s get into everything this week.

Beauty | Fall Nail Polish

It’s Fall which means, all of my pretty neon pinks and white polishes are stored away until the Spring and Summer.  My last manicure was a dark red and then when I went for my last one I got nervous and went back to my reliable pale pink.  I usually get Opi Gels – the BEST brand of gel IMHO – and Bubble Bath is my favorite pale pink.  Guess what? My nail salon RAN OUT OF IT.  This was on my birthday, so I was feeling super upset about it and couldn’t make a decision on the perfect Fall color to get instead, which led to this post.

When I go to get my nails done, I like to have done my research and know what shade I want.  I generally find a handful of great colors that I love and get time and time again.  I personally prefer OPI and Essie polishes, particularly OPI for gel polish.

Shopping | Currently Obsessed: Workout Edition

Now that we are back into the swing of things with the school year, I have been able to get back to my normal gym and barre routine and have been stepping up and adding more workouts in every week.  I know it may sound shallow, but cute workout clothes are super motivating in so many ways.  If I feel cute, then I am more likely to work out.  If my clothes fit well and aren’t moving all around, I can focus more on my workout.  Finally, I am more than likely going to be around in said workout clothes for the rest of the day, so I want pieces that I can wear beyond my workout and steal feel cue and pulled together in.

I rounded up a bunch of tops and bottoms all in white, black and gray that can easily be mixed and matched and worn all week and for different types of work outs.  I want them all and a going to start making a dent in getting these pieces!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A looser fitting top with a built in sports bra is hard to find, so this one is a must have!  This sports bra just sold out and I am kicking myself for not snagging it.  I’m guessing it will be re-stocked, but they have it in a different sheen here.  I’m partial to this tank based on the name obviously, but I love the front cut out, too.  I love the side cut outs on this top, too.  They take a plain tank from boring to fun!

I just grabbed these leggings from my barre studio and I love them!  They’re so fun to wear to the studio and then you can wear them after as regular liquid leggings.  Such a great investment piece!  Alo is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands of workout wear, and I feel like these white capris would be chic and not sheer at all.  My other pairs are thick enough to ensure that and the white color would wear well post-workout.  I’m kind of digging the looser fit on the ankle of the Stella McCartney for Adidas pants, that reminds me of a chicer version of my go-to work out pants in 2006.  You can never go wrong with snakeskin, either!

Send me any cute workout pieces you have and I should get, please!

Thank you for reading! -XO

Style | Long Sleeve Tee

Shirt: BP, similar, similar / Jeans: Paige / Shoes: Adidas, more sizes here / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Happy Monday babes!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Today is Avery’s EIGHTH birthday so we are going to be celebrating my favorite girl all day long while I also cry into my coffee about my baby growing up so fast.

Ok, back to it! Today we are going to chat about something basic we all need: the perfect long sleeved tee.

I have been a regular wearer of these since I was in high school and I would stock up on the Gap’s signature style ones every Fall in preparation for the year ahead.  After I got out of the super tight tee with a tiny bit of tummy exposed stages, I would grab whatever perfect long sleeved tee I found and hold on to them until I wore them beyond repair.

I personally favor white because I think it matches so much and I feel like light colors flatter my skin tone more.  However, white does not last as long and shows yellowing and stains (generally coffee on mine always) quickly.  I wash with a little bleach and always a splash of white vinegar to help them last longer!

I snagged the top in the pictures are the Nordstrom Sale this Summer and love it for a few reasons: it’s long enough to toss on with workout pants and leggings, it’s loose enough for my #mombod, and it is a super easy fit for everyday wear.  The exact style isn’t carried, but the B.P. line always has this in slightly different versions.  I like this and this.  I started getting B.P. tees when they first opened a Nordstrom by me in the late 90’s and I haven’t looked back!

So the moral of this story on a Monday is that we all need a great long sleeved tee in our wardrobe arsenal and if you ask me where to get one I am going to direct you right to the B.P. department of good old Nordie’s.  Mwah!

Have a great start to your week! -XO

The Weekend Round Up

Happy weekend babes!  It’s been a busy week with lots of family coming and going and the weekend is going to be the same way, but that’s a great kind of busy to be.

Is anyone watching Designated Survivor and This Is Us? I am loving both of them and eagerly awaiting each week’s new episodes.  I feel like so much of my Fall always revolves around new tv shows, which may seem sad, but reminds me of being a kid and eagerly awaiting my favorite shows return (clearly pre-Netflix.)

I made tortellini, mozzarella and salami skewers as an app the other night and tried this wine, since they make my favorite rose.  It’s a little spicy, but really good!

Let’s get into everything good this week!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
